Who We Are
West Midlands Employers (WME) is the Regional Employers Organisation offering a range of services aimed at Local Councils and the wider Public Sector to support performance improvement at both an individual and organisational level. We are a small team of highly experienced individuals striving to provide a responsive and flexible service.

Working at WME
Whilst we may have missed the physical “get togethers” and planned away days, which we tend to hold regularly throughout the year, it hasn’t stopped us from getting together “virtually”. From Christmas Quizzes, Lunch & Learn, to Thirsty Thursday’s, we’ve stayed connected to help support one another both professionally and personally.
We also have NEW offices, based in Willenhall which will become our collaboration space for teams to get together when they need to. WME hold numerous conferences and events, usually hosted in Central Birmingham but currently held virtually which you will be an integral part of, including sourcing the very best speakers to showcase learning and innovation to help the sector develop and grow.

About The Role
Principal Consultant Organisational Development
This is a vital role within WME, you will be part of the extended management team which leads the organisation and includes management of the Leadership and OD team covering a portfolio of services including, OD, Leadership and Development Programmes, Coaching and Mentoring, and EDI focusing on inclusivity across the West Midlands workforce, tailoring our existing offer and introducing new positive action initiatives to meet the needs of the region.
As well as leading on partnerships with external organisations, you will work with a team of specialist associates responsible for delivering our services. You’ll also be a trusted consultant, advising and building a network of Learning and OD professionals across the sector. We are looking for someone who has a sound understanding of the Consultancy process from your role as a senior internal or external Organisation Development professional.
Your experience may come from the Public or Private sector, what is key is your understanding of the challenges and work of the Public Sector and the role of OD interventions to support our clients. You will have strong practitioner skills with a comprehensive grasp of the whole training and development and Consultancy cycle, whilst being a subject mater expert in Equality and Diversity to help our organisations become more inclusive workplaces. The Leadership and OD portfolio which you will be responsible for leading includes the following areas below.

As part of the recruitment to our Principal Consultant role, we are asking candidates who are shortlisted to complete a programme of activities to ensure that you as a candidate have a true understanding of the role here at WME, and us as an organisation.
The activities currently scheduled for our programme are as follows with key dates indicated below:
Closing Date: 21 March 2021
Virtual In-tray Exercises: We will be shortlisting whilst the vacancy is still live, therefore, if you are successfully shortlisted, you will be contacted by the team to complete in-tray exercises relevant to the role, which we will ask you to conduct virtually. For those of you who apply on the closing date and are successful at shortlisting, you will be required to complete your in-tray exercises on either 24 or 25 March 2021.
Informal Coffee and Chat: For those candidates who are successful you will then be invited to attend a face-to-face informal coffee and chat with members of WME, which are currently scheduled for 29 March 2021 (subject to change)
Staff Panel: We are keen for you to meet members of the team here, and successful candidates will be asked to undertake a virtual interview with staff panel members on either 30 or 31 March 2021.
Final Interviews: 6 or 7 April 2021
